Terry Burns was elected to his first term as Lawrence Township Constable in 2010. He was re-elected in 2014.
During his tenure, Burns has focused his efforts on bringing smaller, more efficient and more cost effective government to the residents of Lawrence Township. As Constable, he has reduced costs and improved service in the office while making the township’s Small Claims Court even more efficient and responsive to the needs of those who use the small claims court. At the same time, he has worked to improve public safety in our community and protect the rights of all township residents involved with the court system.
Burns, a long-time Lawrence Township resident, also has implemented reforms to ensure that township government becomes even more responsive and cost effective. He also believes everyone using the Small Claims Court – whether a defendant or a plaintiffs – should be treated with the respect and dignity they expect and deserve.
“By working together, we’ve made Lawrence Township government more efficient and more responsive for all of our residents. In the coming years we’ll continue working together to ensure that our community becomes an even better place to live, work and raise our families,” Burns said.
Burns and his wife Lisa are the parents of two children – Max and Tess – who are both graduates of MSD Lawrence Township. Burns also works with several community-based organizations and sponsors a youth baseball team in the Oaklandon Youth Organization. He is a member of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Binford Redevelopment and Growth (BRAG) organization, and serves on the advisory board of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in Indianapolis.
